Once the study prior to the choice of the location of the station was completed (carried out by ISSeP and AwAC in collaboration with the City of Charleroi), the so-called "traffic" reference station has been operational in Charleroi since July the 21st.
The site, which was chosen according to well-defined criteria derived from the European directive 2008/50/EC, is located on Willy Ernst street, just next to the metro station.
While waiting for the installation of the definitive station (project in progress...), a mobile laboratory is measuring the main traffic-related pollutants, namely nitrogen oxides (NOx), fine particles (PM10 and PM2.5), "black carbon" (soot carbon) and carbon monoxide (CO).
